| Tender Loving Care Senior Residence (tlcsr) is owned and operated by Dr. Shawn McGivney and Kerry McGivney RN, brother and sister. They have extensive professional medical experience in many different health care settings, as a Medical Doctor (MD) and a Registered Nurse (RN). Over the last decade both have witnessed a drastic change in the health care system, which now provides less service and continuity of care. Most healthcare today is “quick care” or “urgent care” and almost by definition offers less continuity of care. For example, you might see a different doctor, nurse, or caregiver each time. Communication between patient, families and health care providers has seemingly disappeared. Health care has become disjointed and segmented. Both Shawn and Kerry have experienced the frustrations of the health care system not only professionally, interacting with patients, families and other providers, but also personally as direct caregivers and family members while, caring for their own mother after her stroke. Even with all of their medical experience, it was difficult to communicate, gather information and coordinate care for their mother. They opined that if they had difficulty understanding insurance coverage, what to get and where, and had difficulty communicating and interacting with the system they imagined it might be even more difficult for non medical professionals, seniors and their families. Their experiences as BOTH medical professionals and as direct caregivers have fueled their passion for senior care and inspired them to open Tender Loving Care Senior Residence to assist other families during stressful and challenging times. |

Kerry McGivney, RN, Owner
Kerry has 15 years of nursing experience in all care settings including; hospital, doctor’s office, and as a Visiting Nurse. She holds a BS in Nursing and provides direct care to residents and works side by side with her staff and brother.

Shawn McGivney, MD, RFA
Shawn is an Internist and Geriatrician with more than 20 years of experience in many senior care settings; private office, hospital, nursing home, inpatient rehab, and home care. Currently he does home visits for the frailest seniors. In addition to his medical skills, he is a BELTCA certified Administrator and serves as the Medical Director for tlcsr. He is available to residents and families when they have questions or whenever a need arises. Indeed, many families are grateful for the frequent updates he provides on a residents’ condition.
